Rebecca Jean Russell

Rebecca Jean Russell , 84, of Pelham, Alabama, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025. Rebecca was born in Columbus, Georgia to Margaret Ann Everett and Marshall McArthur on December 30, 1940. Rebecca worked at Matthews Electric. 

She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Rebecca lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; being with family and friends, enjoying her pets and caring for and loving other people. She had a gift of reaching out to those in need and impacting lives in a deep and meaningful way. 

Rebecca is survived by her husband Sam Russell and son Allen Scruggs, stepdaughters Tracy Payne and Suzan Sample, four grandchildren, Heather Crowson, Trent Crowson, Brooke Lyn Scruggs, Ryleigh Jenna Scruggs, five-step grandchildren Adam Sample, Chris Sample, Staci Johnson, Josh Payne, Zac Payne and thirteen step great-grandchildren. ‍ Rebecca is preceded in death by her daughter Jennifer Lynn Crowson.

A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home 2701 John Hawkins Parkway Hoover, Alabama 35244 with visitation at 10:00am and service at 11:00am with graveside to follow.
