passed away April 19, 2005 at the age of 82. Mr. James, a native of Eufaula, AL, received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Alabama and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. His career in pharmaceutical sales over the years was with Lakeside Laboratories in Birmingham, Atlanta and Milwaukee, WI, and with Boots Pharmaceuticals in Birmingham. He was an active member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, and the Men's Monday Morning Bible Study Group at Mountain Chapel Methodist Church. Mr. James is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Claire James; daughter, Elizabeth James Mathis; son-in-law, Jeff Mathis; granddaughter, Julie Ann Mathis; sister, Ruth James Cost, of Eufaula, AL; and cousins, Keith Byrd, of Birmingham, Betty B. Poole, of Boaz and James Byrd, of Auburn, AL. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 21, 2005, from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150, Hoover, with funeral services to follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Rev. David Wallace and Rev. Mikah Hudson officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Mark United Methodist Church Trustees, 2901 Columbiana Rd., Birmingham, AL 35216. Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home directing.
