Philip Mishalanie

Mr. Philip G Mishalanie, Jr, of Hoover, AL, went home to be with the Lord on February 28, 2022 at the age of 88. He was born in Calhoun County, AL on October 16, 1933 and grew up in Rome, GA, and married Genevie Hyde in 1960. Phil was a member of the United States Army and was stationed in Germany.

As a graduate of The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Phil earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He worked in banking and industry as an accountant for most of his life. Among the companies he worked for was the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Chattanooga, TN, and Barber’s Dairy in Birmingham, AL, where he was the Comptroller until his retirement in 1997.

Phil was a devoted church member and served as a deacon at Vestavia Church of God. He and his wife continued to attend the church faithfully when it relocated and changed names to Metropolitan Church of God.

Phil loved watching football and was an avid Alabama fan. He also enjoyed traveling and vacationing with his family. He was adventurous and always ready to try something new.

Phil is survived by his wife, Genevie Hyde Mishalanie, along with his children Kenneth (Jennifer), Janet Comer (Joseph), Stephen (Lisa), and Jason (Olivia); 8 grandchildren, Aaron Comer, (Diana), Andrew Comer, (Jessica), Jacob, Joshua, Hanna, Christopher Ryan, Caitline, and Cory; and one great grandson, David, and many other relatives and friends. His family was always his top priority and he will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 pm on Monday, March 7, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home Memorial Gardens in Hoover with a service at 2 pm.
