Philip Bates

BATES, PHILIP E., of Marietta, GA, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2008 at the age of 63. He retired from BellSouth after 30 years of faithful service and from Parsons after 10 years of service. Mr. Bates was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Maurine Bates of Shelby; and his son, Alan Bates and Alan’s wife, Terra. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joan Bates; two sons, Robert Bates (Shannon) of Woodstock, GA, and Kevin Bates (Patrice) of Marietta, GA; four granddaughters; and two brothers, Charles Bates (Lois) of Birmingham and Randy Bates (Peggy) of Birmingham. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 from 6-8 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Highway 150, Hoover. Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel, Robert Montgomery officiating. Interment will be in Old Shelby Cemetery in Shelby.
