Peter John Cober, 68 years old, received his angel wings December 12, 2024, Birmingham Alabama.
Peter, known to his family and friends as Pete, was a family man who loved his family and his friends. He always had a funny story to tell or smile to improve your day. He loved telling jokes, sometimes, three or fifty times, but his joy at making you laugh was his goal always. He always used Texas slang, and no one ever knew if they were real or made up; but we loved hearing them anyway.
Prior to his retirement in 1998, he spent his career in Mortgage Banking. His jest for life led him to retire early, to be able to spend time doing what he loved, family dinners, eating Mexican food, researching his Ancestry, casinos, texting with his grandchildren and talking to his favorite niece, Kelly.
Pete is survived by his wife, Velvet Cober, his son, Christopher Hoscheid, his daughter in law, Christine Hoscheid, his grandchildren, Kevin Hoscheid and Alassandra Hoscheid; also his brother, Charles Jay Cober and his sister, Mary Owen, and multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Per Pete's request there will be no memorial service, his wish was to be cremated and his ashes scattered at a casino, his 2nd love after his wife, Velvet. After winning a car in Las Vegas in 2004, he decided he had a new second love. His wishes were no flowers, but donations can be made in his name to the American Heart Association.
