Paula Filippone Merrill

Paula Filippone Merrill, 55, beloved wife, stepmother, daughter, sister, and aunt, passed away suddenly in the company of her husband, Spencer and family on Wednesday Oct 31, 2018. Paula was born to the late Fred (Flip) Filippone and Mary Catanzano Filippone on October 25, 1963 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was the youngest of 6 siblings.

Paula was a graduate Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School and Homewood High School. She was the Human Resources Director for Abbey Residential Services, Inc.  Paula loved to entertain in her home for family and friends. She loved animals and adored her dogs beyond measure. Paula could light up a room with her smile and contagious laugh. She loved to dance to the beat of the music. She is preceded in death by her father, Fred Filippone; and a sister, Angela Filippone.

Paula is survived by her perfect mate whom she met and married, Spencer Merrill, and his 2 daughters that she loved as her own, Hollis and Dalton Merrill; her mother, Mary Filippone of Pelham, AL; brother, Anthony Filippone of Panama City Beach, FL; sisters, Yolanda "Randi" Moore (Lee) of Pelham, AL, Christina Martin (Bryant) of Destin, FL, and Carol Minor (Tom Acker) of Pelham, AL; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services for Paula Filippone Merrill will be held on Monday, November 5th, 2018, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Hoover, AL. The visitation will begin at 10:00 am followed by Catholic Mass at 11:00 am. Burial after Mass will be at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South, in Hoover, AL.
