Paul Slaughter

October 20, 1924 — June 2, 2018

Paul Slaughter was born in Birmingham on October 20, 1924, and passed away on June 2, 2018. He attended Woodlawn High School and graduated from the University of Alabama with an engineering degree. He served in the Army Air Force and retired from US Steel. He was a resident of Fair Haven Retirement Community and attended church there. He was a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church in Vestavia Hills. He was greatly loved and will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Margean Praytor; parents, Joe & Clara Slaughter; and brother, Joe Slaughter, Jr.


Paul is survived by his brother, Fred Slaughter (Sadie) of Denver, NC; nieces and nephews, Peggy & Barry Ainswoth of Denver, NC, Carol & Webb Chiles of Evanston, IL, Bob & Pam Slaughter of West Monroe, LA, Bill Slaughter of Nashville, TN, Joe & Nita Kay Slaughter of Talladega, AL, Robert Royce (Butch) & Christy Slaughter of Talladega, AL, Patti & Scot Oliver of Collinsville, AL; and numerous great nieces & nephews.


The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 7, 2018, from 9-11 AM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home on Highway 150 in Hoover. The service will follow in the chapel at 11 AM. Paul will be buried at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South, but there will be no graveside committal service.
