Paul Matson

Paul J. "Mr. Kool" Matson, of Hueytown, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017 at the age of 92. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII and an avid Alabama and Atlanta Braves Fan. Mr. Matson was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Angel Speer, and a great grandson, Preston Speer.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jimmie Sue Matson; a son, Rusty Matson (Virginia); a daughter, Connie Wallace (Gene); 6 grandchildren, Ronnie Matson (Dawn), Kristie Rankin (Shawn), Jessica Greene (Jason), Wendy Dew (David), Brad Wallace (Monica) and Kenneth Speer; 16 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; a sister in law, Frances Matson; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 20, 2017 from 12:30 to 2:00 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Kip Fault officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
