It is with great sorrow that the family of Paul Donald Jerome announces his passing on October 2, 2021.
Paul was born on January 5, 1935 in Sewickley, Pennsylvania to Mary Ann (nee Hnath) and Domenic Donald Jerome. He graduated from East High School in Youngstown, Ohio in 1951 He attended the University of Pittsburgh and was a member of the SAE Fraternity. Paul also served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956. On June 15th, 1957 he married the love of his life, Judith Ellen Stevens of Edgeworth, Pennsylvania. Paul and Judy were happily married for 49 years.
After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh, Paul moved to Hamburg, New York, where he worked for Upjohn Pharmaceuticals. In October of 1967, he set out for the adventure of his lifetime, leaving the United States with his young family to study medicine at the University of Padova in Italy. During his time in Italy, Paul began his career as a Federal Civil Servant with the U.S. Department of the Army at Caserma Ederle in Vicenza, Italy. He also pursued numerous side ventures from freelance photography to coaching and officiating youth and adult sports. He was also instrumental in establishing the AMPRO basketball camps.
He moved back to the United States in 1980 and was employed at the Pentagon before returning to Europe in 1982. While in Europe he lived and worked in Nürnberg, Würzburg and Neu Ulm Germany. He moved to Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey in 1990 -where he worked until his retirement from Federal Civilian Service in 1998. He and his wife Judy then relocated to Hoover, Alabama to be near family.
While retired, Paul enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, cooking, traveling, researching family history, relaxing with his cats (Pinot and Spot) and watching college sports, Italian soccer and the Tour de France.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Judy, in 2007, and is survived by his children Paul Stevens Jerome and wife Karen, Stephen Michael Jerome and wife Lisa, Joanna Jerome Addison and husband Dean, sister Tonia Jerome Danile, and five grandchildren: Drew, Mark and Ian Addison; and Sean and Julia Jerome.
A family only Funeral Mass will be celebrated in memory of Paul Donald Jerome on October 6,2021 at 10am, Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
