Jean Dickinson, formerly of Gary, WV and Smith Mountain Lake, VA, passed away October 27, 2014. She was 88 years old and had endured for the past 8 years the slow, devastating disease of Alzheimer's. At the time of her death she lived in Hoover, AL.
Jean was married to John F. Dickinson from May 11, 1947 until his death on January 6, 2007. Together they raised 2 children, John F. Dickinson II (Jean Ellen) from Jupiter, FL and Kathy Bucciarelli (Giovanni) from Hoover, AL. Jean was born on March 24, 1926 to George and Jessie McArdle in Iaeger, WV. She had one sister, Betty Hatcher of Roanoke, VA, who also died from Alzheimer's, and one brother, Jack McArdle, who lives in Bristol, VA.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, husband, granddaughter (Amanda Bucciarelli), and great-granddaughter (Josie Dickinson).
She is survived by her children, brother, grandchildren, John F. Dickinson III (Renee) of Pittsburg, PA, and Sarai Bucciarelli of Hoover, AL, and great grandson, John F. Dickinson IV of Pittsburg, PA.
The family will gather at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, on October 31, 2014, at 12:00 for a graveside ceremony conducted by her son-in-law, John Bucciarelli.
In lieu of flowers of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Alzheimer's Association in her memory.
Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, 2701 John Hawkins Pkwy, Hoover, Ala., is in charge of arrangements.
