Patricia McCormick

Patricia A. McCormick of Hoover, AL passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the age of 85 in Chattanooga, TN. She was born January 8, 1939, in Sweetwater, TN. She was one of four sisters including Carolyn, Theresa, and Elaine. Part of her childhood was spent in Michigan and the rest in Tennessee. After graduating from high school, she attended a business school in Knoxville. It was at this time that she met the love of her life, Joe McCormick Jr., who was attending the University of Tennessee at the time. After Joe graduated, they married on July 14, 1963, and were inseparable from that point on.

After Joe completed his service in the Army Corps of Engineers, they settled in Birmingham, AL and made that their home to raise a family. Pat was a full-time homemaker for their entire marriage and never wanted anything else. She and Joe loved to travel and especially loved spending time at the beach. Most of all, they loved being with each other. They were also active members at Shades Mountain Community Church. Joe passed away in 2015 due to illness, and she continued as best she could. For the last 2 years, Pat lived in Chattanooga with her sister Elaine who lovingly cared for her as she declined due to Alzheimer's disease. It was a great blessing for her to be able to spend her final years with family and friends who loved and cared for her in a wonderful home environment.

She is survived by her son Todd McCormick (Lisa), daughter Beth Rayborn (William), grandchildren Kaitlyn Rayborn, Joseph McCormick II (Grace), Madeline McCormick, and sister Elaine Rolfson. She leaves behind other family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

Funeral Services will be at Currie Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, AL on Friday, May 10. The visitation will be in the Chapel at 12:30 followed by the service at 1:00. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.
