Patricia Finlen

Patricia Durick Finlen, (Patty), peacefully passed away at her home on February 22, 2015. Mrs. Finlen was a former long term resident of Birmingham, Alabama. She was born July 27, 1923 in Bessemer, Alabama, to Stephen A. and Bridget Gallagher Durick. Mrs. Finlen is known for her life time devotion to her family and faith. She was a long term member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church (Homewood, Alabama), St. Peter’s Catholic Church (Birmingham, Alabama), and St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (Auburn, Alabama).
Mrs. Finlen was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James Michael Finlen, originally from West End, Alabama. Mrs. Finlen is survived by seven children: Trisha Finlen Bragg (Greg) of Huntsville, Alabama, Fran Finlen Stainback (Bill) of Birmingham, Alabama, Margaret Finlen Gethers (David) of Auburn, Alabama, Mike Finlen (Lori) of Mobile, Alabama, Steve Finlen (Susan) of Greenville, South Carolina, Bridget Finlen Smith (J.R.) of Auburn, Alabama, and Ann Finlen of Auburn, Alabama. Mrs. Finlen is also survived by 14 wonderful grandchildren, 7 precious great-grandchildren, and numerous other family and friends.
Mrs. Finlen was also preceded in death by her brothers: Dr. Stephen A. Durick (Bub), Most Reverend Joseph A. Durick, and William D. Durick and her sisters: Agnes Durick Hagerty, Bridget Durick Foster, Margaret Durick West, Frances Durick, and Sister Mary Margaret Durick, R.S.M.
On Wednesday, February 25, 2015, visitation for Mrs. Finlen will be held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. The funeral Mass will commence at 11:00 a.m. (2061 Patton Chapel Road, Birmingham, Alabama 35216). The funeral will be officiated by Reverend Monsignor William J. Skoneki of Auburn, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (1100 North College Street, Auburn, Alabama 36830).
