Patricia Daily

Patricia Barry Daily, 84, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023. Patti was born

on January 9, 1939, to Joe and Johnnie Barry in Birmingham, Alabama. She adored her brother Joe, graduated from Shades Valley High School, and then attended Auburn University before marrying Jerry R Daily Sr and the US Army.

Patti soon became an expert packer and world traveler, accompanying Jerry on numerous overseas assignments living in Europe three different times during their first 10 years of marriage.

Her first two children, Bari and Jay, were born during two different tours in Germany and her third child, Beth, was born in Birmingham. Her quick wit and ability to never meet a stranger served her well during the early globe-trotting days. Regardless of late movers or a new duty assignment the family could always count on a delicious dinner of tuna fish casserole. Her children have not enjoyed tuna fish casserole since growing of age and being able to make their own dining choices.

The final moves established Huntsville as home where she lived starting in 1977. She and Jerry had one more grand overseas adventure which took them to Cairo, Egypt. After nearly a year spent on the banks of the Nile the family welcomed her back home and soon enjoyed the unpacking and positioning of a camel collection that would rival small Egyptian museums. There were many constants in Patti's adult life. A home full of corgis, a cat, and a dear friend Becky Schaaf who taught all of us the rewards of being present, caring, and thoughtful. Patti was an active member of Grace Lutheran and Ascension Lutheran churches. She loved Huntsville and her regular card games. She assured us they were playing bridge but the consistent weekly winnings had all of us guessing. Patti found her community calling by being a regular for Police ride alongs as a Domestic Violence Responder. She was a natural at diffusing tension and creating smiles. Later on, she enjoyed the Red Hat Society and had a stellar lunch attendance record if you eliminate the absences caused by the regular lunch "bridge" games.

Patti was blessed with a full life, a loving husband, 3 adoring children and 6 grandchildren. The immediate family of Jack, Kriss, Bari, James, Jay, Cindy, Buddy, Beth, Randy, Megan, Erin, Chris, Claire, Owen, Lizzie, Kevin, Daily, Sean, and Gracie will miss this beautiful woman who had a quick smile and too many questions.

Graveside service will be held at Valhalla Memory Gardens on Friday, March 31st at 11:00 am. in lieu of flowers the family requests you consider making a donation to one of Patti's favorite charities:
