of Bessemer, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2008, at the age of 90. He was a graduate of Tufts University in MA and from Meteorology School at UCLA. He served in Burma during WWII in the 9th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Mr. Richard retired from the Air Force Reserve after 20 years of service. He worked for the Department of Defense as a Meteorologist until he retired. He was a member of the Optimist Club, Knights of Columbus, VFW, American Legion, and American Meteorologist Society. He was a Fellow in ASHRAE. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Richard. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary L. Richard; two sons, Paul V. Richard (Cindy) of MD and Ronald T. Richard (Anita) of MD; three daughters, Therese R. Catt (Dan) of Hoover,Carol D. Bonnett (Eric) of Harvest, and Patricia U. Richard of CA; seven grandchildren; a brother, Paul Richard of AZ; and a sister, Una Cullen of MA. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 10, 2008, from 5-7 PM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will follow at 7 PM at the church, with Father Henry McDaid officiating. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
