Oscar E. Hyde, of Vestavia Hills, peacefully passed from this world to claim his eternal life in heaven on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at the age of 90.
Oscar was born on December 25, 1926, in Cullman, Alabama. He served in the United States Navy during WWII on the USS Tucson . After many years in the banking and finance business, he then turned his focus to the automobile industry. Oscar retired from his dream job of more than 30 years when he sold Pell City Ford Lincoln Mercury in 2009.
Oscar was a founding member of Shades Mountain Community Church in Hoover and continued to stay active in the church throughout his life. Everyone who knew Oscar recognized his generosity and servant’s heart. He lived his life according to Acts 20:35-
In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Oscar’s life-long love and support of missions has helped to further Jesus’ message, bringing countless souls to know Christ.
Oscar is preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Bobbie Jean Hyde; parents, Oscar and Mary Ford Hyde; brother, Odean Hyde; sister-in-law, Rebecca Sue Hyde; sisters, Norma Sue Martin and Glenda McClellan; and his son, Donald H. Hyde.
Oscar is survived by brother, Jack Hyde (Traute); brother-in-law, Newman McClellan; three sons, Fred M. Hyde (Emma), Oscar Ray Hyde (Meg), and Bobby P. Hyde; daughter, Marijean Forrester (Jay); daughter-in-law, Anne Hyde; grandchildren, Adam Hyde (Karen), Mark, Will and Thomas Hyde, Christie Hyde DeNave (Joe), Michael Hyde (Gina), Jennifer Forrester, Lisa Robertsen (Eric) and Melanie Teague (John); great-grandchildren, Jackson Hyde, Hayes Hyde, Brody Robertsen, Sadie Alys Teague and a fifth great-grandchild expected in December.
A celebration of life service will be held at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, Ala., on Wednesday, August 16, 2017. The family will begin receiving friends at noon with services following at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
