FORD, ORON RUSSELL, of Hoover, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2009, at the age of 88. Mr. Ford was a veteran of WWII and served as a navigator with the Fifth Bomber Command. He participated in six campaigns and was recalled by the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Ford attended the University of Alabama and was a graduate of Samford University. He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Sybil Phillips Ford. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Conrad (James); son, Orrin Russell Ford (Peggy); grandchildren, Cynthia Dooley (Bruce), Catherine Waters, Meredith Estes (Kelly), and Shaughn Ford; great grandchildren, Brad and David Dooley, Mary Katherine and Will Estes, and Conrad Van Order. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 28, 2009, from 1:00-2:00 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150 in Hoover. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Bill Johnston of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church and Rev. Henry Edsel Ford, brother of the deceased, officiating. Music will be by David Holmes, Minister of Music, and the Prime Timers of Central Park Baptist, Decatur, Alabama. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. Donations can be made to Central Park Baptist Church, 2020 Westmeade St. SW, Decatur, Alabama or the American Legion Post 15, Decatur, Alabama.
