Omega Long

of Southside Birmingham, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2008, at the age of 98. She graduated from Troy University and was a 2nd grade teacher for many years. She was a hostess at Independent Presbyterian Church on Highland Avenue for over 25 years and was a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her eight brothers, two sisters and a great grandchild. She is survived by a son, Robert Long, Jr. (Mary) of Vestavia; five grandchildren, Michael, Harold, Tonie, Robert and Robbin; five great grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred Foster of Chickasaw, AL. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 18, 2008, from 12-1 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 1 PM at the Abbey Mausoleum in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes Hospital.
