Neville E. Abrahams, a recent resident of Chelsea, Alabama, passed away on June 20, 2021. It happened to be Father’s Day.
Neville was born in Guyana, South America where he worked as a bookkeeper and accountant for the Guyanese government for several years. He moved to New York City in 1968, attended college and began a career in financial services. After his retirement from Merrill Lynch in 1997, he moved to Marietta, Georgia. While there, he became a substitute high school teacher in the Marietta School District. He continued this “second career” until he became ill in late 2019. He was loved and respected by many students and faculty members.
In 2020, Neville joined a portion of his family in Alabama, where he will rest until the Lord’s return. He leaves 5 adult children: (Enid Canzius, Fay Abrahams-Jacques, Roger Jordan, Leroy Abrahams and Nigel Abrahams), 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of family, neighbors, former colleagues, friends and former students who benefitted from his association.
Remembrance services will be held on Friday, June 25th and the Birmingham First Seventh-day Adventist Church. Visitation will begin at 9:30 and the funeral at 10:00.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB. Please designate donations to Prostate Cancer Awareness and Outreach.
