Nellie Watkins Burnet

(1932-2023)

A life full of endurance, strength, and fortitude. We fondly remember our loved one Nellie Watkins Burnet of Hoover Alabama, who passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on Sunday October 15th, 2023.

She had many friends and family who loved her and will miss her greatly.

Nell was born to Pearl and Mallie Quay Watkins on January 26th, 1932. She was the 3rd youngest of 8 children: Ruth, Hansel, Leonard, Robert, Hazel, Charles and Marie. She would often tell fond stories of her childhood and growing up on the farm with her family in Dothan, Alabama. Her childhood nickname was "Tad".

Nell is survived by her children Daniel (and Sharon) Stanley and Catherine (and Scott) Slocum. She is also survived by her sister Marie and 5 grandchildren: Joshua, Mariah, Michael, Nathaniel, and Theresa. She leaves behind a number of beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and one great grandson.

Nell lived a full life and overcame many challenges that came her way - From leaving Alabama to work for the FBI, raising 2 children, being a nurse, and battling cancer twice. She leaves behind a legacy of strength and forbearance that she has continually demonstrated in her 91 years of life.
