Nelia Cagle

Nelia Elizabeth Cagle, age 88, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, December 23, 2013.
Mrs. Cagle was born in Birmingham, Alabama. Since her birth she was affectionally called “Billie” by her family and friends. She grew up in Shadyside and was a longtime member of Shadyside United Methodist Church before joining Riverchase United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Minnie Carpenter, husband Curtis of 69 years, her son Gene and two sisters, Freda Fehn and Ellen Carpenter, and one brother “Little Buddy”.

Mrs. Cagle is survived by two children; Elizabeth “Liz” Haynie (Larry), and son Robert “Bobby” Harold Cagle, daughter-in –law, Patty; two granddaughters, Stephanie Dawn Haynie (Chad Polk) and Carrie Ann Kolb (Kyle); five great grandchildren, Lilli Ann and Ila Kate Kolb and Ethan, Nate and Lauren Polk, two sisters-in-law, Mae Bailey and Mary Ingram (Don); numerous nieces, nephews and longtime friends. She loved sewing, knitting and gardening.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 27, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home with services to begin in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, PO Box 2273 Birmingham, AL 35201 or Riverchase United Methodist Church.
