Nelda Bowen

Mrs. Nelda B. Bowen, age 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at her long-time home in Hoover, AL.
She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Albert Sidney Bowen, and by her parents, Vola and Roy Bookout of Fulton, MS and her brothers, Edward and Eldred Bookout.
Survivors include her daughters; Linda Carter (Jerry), Tuscaloosa, AL , Karyn Bowen, Hoover, AL, Nancy Weinard, Hoover, AL, and Victoria Hill (Roger), Jasper, AL. She has eight grandchildren; Kelly Peevy; Kim Payne (Robert); Staci Hannig (Scott); Jeff Carter (Rachelle); Chad Hill (Brandy); Brandon Hill (Addie); Trent Hill; Pete Allen (Darnell). She has seventeen great-grandchildren.
“Gran” was a special, wonderful, Christian woman and the spiritual leader of her entire family. She was a member of Shades Mt. Independent Church where she and her husband constructed the athletic fields for SMI School. Everyone who knew her loved her because of her sweet, sweet spirit.
The family is eternally grateful for her special, loving caregivers; Pam and Rosetta. She loved them. Special thanks to Amedisys Hospice.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 21, 2015 from 1-2 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Services will follow at 2 PM in the chapel with Dr. Lowell Vann officiating. Interment in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
