Nancy Roberts

Nancy White Roberts, 79, of Stockbridge, GA, formally of Tallahassee, FL, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2017 in Stockbridge, GA.

Visitation will be held at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, AL on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 11:00 am- 12:00 pm.

A Graveside service will be held at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South immediately following visitation. Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements.

Nancy was born in Hamilton, Alabama to Richard and Lanetta White on November 25, 1937. She went to high school at Ramsay High School in Birmingham, AL and graduated in 1955. She attended Auburn University in 1956 for two quarters. Nancy Married James L. Roberts in 1957. She returned with Jim to Auburn and both were very proud to be the first host and hostess of the new Auburn BSU Center in 1961.

Nancy had fond memories of working at the Alabama Baptist State Convention in Montgomery, AL and for the Educational Offices at Florida State University. In her 27 years in Tallahassee nothing gave her greater pleasure and fulfillment than her time at Thomasville Road Baptist Church. Serving as WMU director, expressing her love of missions, and the many special friends she had, nothing made Nancy smile like serving and loving others.

Nancy is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, James Roberts, by her parents, Richard White and Lanetta Murray, and her husband, John B. Murray Jr.

Nancy is survived by her son Paul (Melissa) of Hampton, Ga and daughter Lee Ann (David) Pope of Jackson, GA; grandchildren Kristy Roberts, Stephen Roberts, Jonathan Roberts, Allison Pope, Jason Roberts, Kevin Roberts and Anna Pope.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Southern Grace Hospice and Autumn Leaves Memory Care for their support in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Southern Grace Hospice of Atlanta.
