Monty Simmons

of Hoover, AL, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at the age of 83. He was a member of Mountain Chapel United Methodist Church for the past 50 years and retired from St. Regis Paper and Union Camp. He attended Auburn University, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. He was a volunteer for Meal on Wheels and The Nest.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joan Simmons, son, Jeffrey Simmons (Fay), daughter, Julie Simmons, granddaughter, Amber Simmons, nephew, Doug Simmons (Jill), three nieces; Bettie Jenkins (Kenneth), Jackie Butler and Marie Tatum (Steve) and several great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 29, 2014, from 6-8 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 30, 2014, at 11 AM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tom Parrish officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Mountain Chapel United Methodist Church or your favorite charity.
