Miriam Lowery

Miriam Frances Griffin Lowery of Hoover passed away on September 18, 2016 at the age of 93. She was born on July 14, 1923, to Fred Finnis Griffin and Eunice Sewell Griffin. Mrs. Lowery graduated from Phillips High School in 1942. During WWII she worked for the Naval Dept. in San Diego. Mrs. Lowery was a member of Hoover Service Club, Friends of the Hoover Library, Hoover New Horizons, The Valley Study Club, and more. She faithfully served her church, Dawson Memorial Baptist.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Marion Lowery, whom she married on January 11, 1942. She is also preceded in death by three brothers, Fred F. Griffin, Jr., Sewell Griffin, and William W. Griffin, and by her daughter, Lisa Lowery Brown.

She is survived by sons James Randall Lowery and Jeffrey Marion Lowery (Betsy); 5 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM, Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150 in Hoover. Funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2 PM. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. Memorial gifts may be given to Dawson Memorial Baptist Church, Arendall Building Legacy of Faith Fund.
