Mr. Michael Oscar Newton, 68, of Hoover, Alabama passed away on November 3, 2013 after suffering briefly from an illness. Michael was born in Birmingham, Alabama and graduated from Ensley High School. He attended the University of Alabama and graduated from Samford University where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha. Michael served as a member of the US Army National Guard. In college and during his service, he developed an interest in military history. He was employed many years in the fluid power industry. Michael was a loyal supporter of University of Alabama and Hoover High School football and served as president of the Mid-Alabama Corvette Club. Michael was loved by his many friends at Hunter Street Baptist Church and Hoover Toyota, where he worked part-time. He cherished his time with his family and is survived by his wife, Norma Wilson Newton; siblings: Lisa Newton Moose and Philip Newton; children: Lisa McClenny Holbert and Matthew McClenny; grandchildren: Hunter Harbin and Gavin McClenny; nieces: Ashlee Moose Moore, Tyler Thigpen, Peyton Moose Wenzler; nephews: Mark Newton, Dan Newton, and Adam Moose. His quick wit, charisma, and optimism will be missed by those who loved him. A memorial service will be held at Currie-Jefferson memorial at 1:00 pm on November 6, 2013.
