Melba Sexton

Melba Sexton, passed away in her sleep, November 1, 2013. She was the eldest child of Myrtie Novella Brown Smith and Dewey L. Smith, Sr. She started working at age 14 and held many jobs from sales, accounting, telephone operator, manager and as the caterer of the Maxwell Air Force Base officers Club. She retired from there and worked as a receptionist at the EPA on Gunter AFB until the end of her career. Melba loved the outdoors and working in her yard which was hindered in her later years by disability. She is survived by her two children; Connie Geno (Kimball) and Ronnie Sexton (Barb) and four grandchildren; Aaron Geno, Adam Geno, Megan Sexton and Devan Sexton; one sister, Flonell Hansen; several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 1 PM at Hamby’s Chapel in Eva Alabama with burial at Hamby’s Chapel Cemetery.
