Matthew Mascia, Sr

Matthew J. Mascia, Sr., of Hoover, formerly of Bellmore, NY, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017, at the age of 91. He was a school teacher in New York Hollis-Queens for 25 years and was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Stella Mascia; 2 sons, Matthew Mascia, Jr. (Cindy) and John Mascia (Nancy); a daughter Deanna Zenn (Rick); his grandchildren, Nicole Cantwell (Chris), Matthew III, Timothy, Andy and Kevin Mascia, Katie Ciamarra (Mark), Christopher and Annie Mascia, and Michael and Johanna Zenn.

The family will receive friends from 9-10, Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150 in Hoover. Service will follow at 10 AM in the chapel. Entombment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Foundation, Mascia Family Endowment: 205 E. South St., Talladega, AL 35161.
