Mary Frances Sudderth, an avid reader, has read her last page. She was born on March 11, 1927, to David Ramon Humphries and Ada New Humphries in Lineville, Alabama. Frances married George Louis Sudderth on December 22, 1949, and they were married for 54 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her siblings, Buck Humphries, Bill Humphries, Dot Ringold, Pogo Barie and Joyce Blanton.
Frances is survived by her children, Kay Murer, George Sudderth, Celia Hatch (Tom), and Sam Sudderth (Margaret); grandchildren, Greg, Steven (Theresa), Kevin, Alan, Kelly (Rob), Lisa (Joe), Joy Lynn (Jeffrey), Nathan, Katie, Danielle and Carrie; great grandchildren, Caitlin, Sarah, Will, Kathryn Alex and Kerry; her sisters, Jody Speer and Margaret Bell; and numerous nieces and nephews, near and far.
Frances was very civic minded, involved in voter registration, Girl Scouts, PTA, and the Birmingham Opera Board. She was instrumental in starting the Avenue of Flags in Irondale and she also volunteered at the Hoover Library. During the years, Frances was a member of Woodlawn Baptist, Ruhama Baptist, Meadow Brook Baptist and Liberty Park Baptist. She taught Sunday School and worked in the nursery at each church.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 9, 2017, at 3 PM at Liberty Park Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 2 PM - 3 PM.
