Mary Stevens

Mrs. Mary G. Stevens, age 91, of Hoover, AL, passed away November 3, 2011. She was a member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church. She was a Member of the Order of Eastern Star, where she was the Worthy Grand Matron several times. She was retired from the Federal Coal Mine Health and Safety. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin R. Stevens, and eleven siblings of a family of thirteen. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and loved her two grandsons dearly. She was an avid Auburn football fan. She is survived by her son, James Stevens, a brother, William (Blacky) Griffin, two grandsons, Griffin Stevens (Lynne), Sloan Stevens, a number of nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends Monday, November 7, 2011, from 1-3 at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to any children's foundation for the benefit of the children.
