Mary Popwell

of Pelham, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at the age of 77. She was a current member of the First Baptist Church of Hoover and a former member of Norwood Baptist Church. She was a beloved wife, mother and "nanny". She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Fred C. Popwell of Pelham; two sons, Donald W. Popwell of Pelham and Ronald L. Popwell (Susan) of Trussville; two grandchildren: Christopher and Malorie Popwell; three brothers, Ross Hayes of Clanton, Roy Hayes (Mary Jane) of Montgomery, and Paul Hayes (Jackie) of Moody; three sisters, Willodean Kennemore of Vestavia, Verbie Tayor of Forestdale and June Nickelson of Jemison: and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 13, 2010, from 12-1 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150, Hoover. Funeral services will follow at 1 PM in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Randy Atkinson and Rev. Jay Kieves officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
