Mary Folds

Mary Sam Bowdon Folds passed away April 16, 2021 at the age of 100. She was born March 2, 1921 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Pierce Folds of Cullman, Alabama and Son-in-law Harold Maynard Sylvest of Montgomery, Alabama. She is survived by her children Margaret Folds Sylvest and Carol Folds Ahlstrand, and her son-in-law, Donald Charles Ahlstrand. She is also survived by her five grandchildren (Trey) Harold Maynard Sylvest III and wife Wendy Girone Sylvest, Angela Sylvest Keene, and Mary Sylvest Aplin and husband Matthew Franklin Glarrow, Edward William Ahlstrand and wife Sarah Keener Ahlstrand, and Ashley Ahlstrand Giere and husband Eric Christian Giere and eight great grandchildren.

Mary graduated from Woodlawn High School in Birmingham, Alabama and met the love of her life Carl Folds while he attended college at Howard University (Stanford University). The two married soon thereafter and stayed in love throughout their marriage of over sixty-five years when Carl then passed. Mary was a loving mother and wife. She was a remarkable woman who never spoke a mean word to anyone. She lived her life as a child of Christ and her faith in the Lord remained strong.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. with the service following at 2:00 p.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home located at 2701 John Hopkins Parkway, Hoover, AL 35244.
