Marvin Jones, Jr

of Helena, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2010, at the age of 77. He was a long time member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Anniston and The Knights of Columbus. He was a restaurateur in Anniston for 20 years and was a contractor and remodeler until he retired in 2006. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin M. Jones, Sr. and Ora Jones; and a brother, Robert "Rabbit" Jones. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sydney Jones; two daughters, Lydia Harris (Hal) and Leigh Laney (Bryan) both of Hoover; five grandchildren, Stephen Harris (Sarah), Katherine Harris, and Keighly, Lauren and Maris Laney; a brother, Jimmy Jones (Mary) of Weaver; four sisters, Mary Jones (Harold) of Heflin, Linda Austin (Henry) of Hoover, Kay Freeman and Marie Ponder both of Birmingham; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at 1:00 PM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Henry McDaid officiating.
