Marvin Wayne Dobnikar of Hoover, AL joined our Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 5th, 2023. Marvin was 81, born October 4th, 1942, in St. Louis MO to the late Everett Edward Dobnikar and Mary Elvira Jones Dobnikar. He was proceeded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Joyce Ann Cooper Dobnikar and brother Richard Dobnikar of Florissant, MO. He is survived by brother, Robert Dobnikar (m. Sandra) of Jackson, MO.
Survivors also include: Sons, Todd Wayne Dobnikar (m. Karen) of Maryville, TN., Paul Bryan Dobnikar of Hoover, AL, Joey Mitchell Dobnikar of Hoover, AL, Mark Edward Dobnikar (m. Heather) of Hoover, AL; grandchildren – Jason Dobnikar (e. Mary Catherine) and Erica Dobnikar Adams (m. Kurt) (Paula Longshore Bratina), Adam Dobnikar (m. Kristen) and Stephanie Dobnikar (Karen Brawley Dobnikar), Nicole Smith (Olivia Smith), Grace Dobnikar and Cooper Dobnikar (Heather Dobnikar) Carlie Dobnikar (Karen Dobnikar); great grandchildren – Everly Adams, Finley Adams (Erica Dobnikar Adams).
Marvin enjoyed his early childhood in Naylor, MO before moving back to St. Louis, MO. In his early teens. His experiences while there included marrying the love of his life, Joyce, and having their four boys. This is also where he established lifelong relationships that endured until his passing. In his early thirties he and his family moved to Birmingham-Hoover, AL.
Marvin and his family quickly made themselves fixtures at Hoover Ball Park where Marvin served on several committees and coached his boys for the following 12-15 years.
Marvin was known to all that knew him as a kind, positive, and humble man. His charm and uplifting personality never failed to bring out the best in people. He was generous without peer in his willingness to help loved ones and friends with anything. He was the “Go-To” guy for so many, who always had the time to give advice and the integrity to help no matter the situation. He had a relentless work ethic that was an example to live by and embraced his life and career with zestful optimism. He cultivated friendships with ease; built from love, trust, and a great sense of humor. Everyone who knew him has their own special, positive story to tell.
Marvin, Dad, Paw Paw, Friend: This selfless and loving man was the rock of our family. He loved and adored each and every one of us, and we him.
Family and friends are invited to attend his celebration of life on Wednesday, October 11th, 2023. Visitation will be held at Currie Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, AL located at 2701 John Hawkins Parkway 35244 at 10am-11am with chapel service at 11am, followed by the graveside dedication
