Martha Shumate

of Hoover, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2005, at the age of 92. Mrs. Shumate was a member of Wisconsin Avenue Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. for over 50 years, where she taught Sunday School. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by a son, Samuel D. Shumate (Janice) of Hoover; two grandchildren, Sabrina Shumate Drawhorn (Britt) of Calera, and Daniel H. Shumate of Mobile; a brother, A. Lee Norman (Lila) of Bethesda, MD; and a sister, Virginia N. Jenkins of Gaithersburg, MD. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 18, 2005, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy. 150, Hoover, with a service following at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. Currie-Jefferson directing.
