Martha Jane Hamilton Copeland

 Martha Jane Hamilton Copeland, age 84, of Pelham, Alabama passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024. Martha was born on August 4, 1939 in Birmingham, Alabama. She retired as Secretary/Bookkeeper of Shades Valley 76 Service Station in 2002.

Martha enjoyed spending time with family, shopping, cooking, sewing, fishing, going to yard sales, square dancing, coloring and word search. She loved researching family history. She always put others before herself and loved helping people. She was a collector decorative plates and angels, which can be found in every room of her home.

Martha was accomplished in poetic writing, as she was chosen to be published in the compendium of poetry by Noble House publishers in 2006, she was selected for publication in the compendium of poetry, The Best Poems and Poets of 2007 by the international Library of Poetry, and was presented the Editor’s Choice Award in August 2008 for outstanding achievement in Poetry presented by poetry.com and the International Library of Poetry.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Idus Copeland, Jr.; Sons Jimmy Wade Copeland (Marie), Richard Edwin (Eddie) Copeland, Henry Talley Copeland (Katherine); Puppy ChiChi and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Clarence Hamilton, Sr. and Zana Thelma Sanders Hamilton; Brothers William Clarence Hamilton, Jr, John Henry Claude Hamilton, Walter Monroe Hamilton, and Donald Lee Hamilton; Sisters Ruby Hamilton Tidwell, Clara Madeline Hamilton, and Frances Lorraine Hamilton Haney; Daughter Vickie Lynn Davis.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Currie Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, with Brother Steve Kilpatrick officiating. A burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens South in Hoover. The family will receive visitors at Currie Jefferson Funeral Home on Friday beginning at 12:00 pm.
