Marjorie Shanks

Mrs. Marjorie Ellen "Doodah" Shanks, age 72, of Hoover, AL, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Sunday, May 1, 2011. She was a a member of Mountain Brook Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and especially a loving grandmother. She was an avid gardener and loved to travel. She spent summers in Maine with her best friend and sister, Martha Ann. Mrs. Shanks is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Eugene Shanks, Jr. She is survived by a son, David Shanks (Cari), of Cleveland, TN, two daughters; Ellen Padgett (Mike) and Barbara Spink (John) both of Birmingham, AL, three grandchildren; Stephen and Katie Jean Spink of Birmingham, AL, and Sam Shanks of Cleveland, TN, and one sister; Martha Ann Metzler (Harry) of Corea, ME. Funeral services will Thursday, May 5, 2011, at 1:00 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Moebes officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
