Marie Packa

of Hoover, formerly of Canton, OH, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at the age of 77. She was a long term volunteer with the American Red Cross, with the hospital in Canton, and was Volunteer of the Year at Moody Gardens in Galveston, TX. Mrs. Packa was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church in Middlebranch, OH, where she was active in the women's guild of the church. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard V. Packa. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Richard E. Packa; 2 sons, Daniel Packa (Janet) of Lorton, VA, and Joseph Packa (Donna) of Hoover, AL; 3 daughters, Christine Maddy (Brian) of Pine Mountain, GA, Rosanne Smith (George) of Columbus, OH, and Jennifer Carpenter of Sumpter, SC; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Thelma Bauman of Magnolia, OH, and Vivian Duckworth of Canton, OH; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 21, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy. 150, Hoover. Funeral mass will be on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father John Fallon officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
