Margaret Ruth Austin

Margaret Ruth Austin, of Birmingham, AL passed away on May 5, 2018, at the age of 91.  She was one of the charter members of Briarwood Presbyterian Church and a retiree of Vestavia Country Club as an accountant in the payroll department. Margaret loved life, her family and friends, and was loved by so many.  She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Bruce Thurston Austin; her only son, Donald Bruce Austin, Sr.; and her parents, Huey and Ollie Gilbert.

Margaret is survived by her daughter in law, Norma Williams Austin; her sisters, Ann (Dee) Miller, Jackie (Robert) Wyatt, and Vickie (Joe) Snowden; her grandchildren, Kathy (Joey) Sowell, Patty Thompson, and D.J. (Michelle) Austin; her great-grandchildren, Christina (Jay) Lovejoy, Katie (Daniel) Leptrone, Donnie Thompson, Andie Thompson, Savannah Berry, and Skylar Austin; and her only great- great-grandchild, Owen Lovejoy.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 10, 2018, from 10-11 AM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home.  The graveside service will follow at 11 AM at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
