M. Anne Bell passed away on March 11, 2024, in Hoover, AL at the age of 100 years. She was born and grew up in Princeton, NJ, where she and her late husband, John Bell, Jr., were married at St. Paul's Catholic Church in 1948. Anne graduated from Princeton High School and attended Rider School of Business. She worked for the Princeton University Press for many years.
Her husband's job transferred them to Chattanooga, TN in 1961. They then moved to Columbia, SC in 1968, and then in 1970 to Birmingham (Hoover), AL where she lived the remainder of her life.
Anne is preceded in death by her husband, John Bell, Jr. (married 69 years), her parents Stalios (Bob) and Marguerite McCarthy Frangos, her sisters Mary Bancroft and Helen Hulse, and her brother James Frangos. Anne is survived by her daughter Susan Bell Brown, her grandson Spencer Brown (Katie), and two great grandsons Gianni Brown and Jeremy Brown, and many nieces and nephews.
While living in Columbia, SC Anne taught a religious class at St. Peters Catholic School. Anne was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hoover, AL since 1970. She was also a member of Hoover Country Club (Green Valley Country Club) for over 35 years and was an avid golfer and bowler.
Funeral Mass for Anne will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 4600 Preserve Parkway, Hoover 35226 on Monday, March 18, 2024. Visitation is at 11:00 and Mass follows at 11:30. At Anne's request, she was cremated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
