Marc Booth

April 25, 1948 — September 12, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of Marc Anderson Booth announces his passing on September 12, 2024, at the age of 76. Marc will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Dianne Wyatt Booth and their children, Robin Gardenhire (Doug) of Marietta, GA and Michael (Lindsay) of Vestavia Hills; as well as, his 5 grandchildren, Ali and Ella Gardenhire and Ella, Hayes, and Charles Booth.

Marc was born April 25th, 1948 to Olive B. Cooper and Thomas A. Booth in Little Rock,

Arkansas. The youngest of 3 children, he found much mischief growing up on the streets of Homewood & Vestavia when his family moved to Birmingham in 1952. He graduated from Shades Valley High School in 1966, where he enjoyed being on the Wrestling team.

Marc began his career at Texas Instruments in Dallas, TX in 1967 working on infrared radar to aid in the Vietnam War. He and Dianne married in 1969 and moved back to Birmingham in 1971 to be closer to family. While working in property management, he found an opportunity in flooring and it took off. Marc enjoyed 49 successful years in the commercial flooring installation and supply business, which served most of Central Alabama. His companies thrived because of the dedication of his employees Marty Dudrow, 41 years of service, and Richard Young, 35 years of service. His family will forever be grateful for their loyalty to him.

For those who know Marc well, you know the joy he found in his many hobbies. From scuba diving with Magic City Frogman to race car driving with SCCA, to snow skiing and sailing, he kept himself busy. Later on, he came to love golfing and traveling with friends and family. Throughout all his life, he had an incredible gift in propagation and gardening. His azaleas and Japanese maples can be found in the gardens of many friends and families homes today. Marc enjoyed tinkering with tools and machines and could build just about anything. Of course, we cannot leave out his love of coin collecting and the satisfaction he got from a great find. He had many passions and spent a lifetime exploring them all.

Marc is preceded in death by his parents, Olive B. Cooper and Thomas A. Booth; sister, Janet Booth Esia and his in-laws, Lester C. and Peggy B. Wyatt. Surviving family members include his brother, Larry A. Booth (Lora) of Williamston, NC, sister, Sharon C. Dennis of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, brothers-in-law Randy Wyatt (Yolanda) and Wesley Wyatt (Amanda) and many nieces and nephews.

Faithful friends include Steve Chapman, Mike Smith, Bob Arnwine and the Shades Valley High School class of '66 First Thursday Group. Boy do they have stories to tell.

A celebration of life service will be held at Shades Mountain Baptist Church Worship Center in Vestavia Hills on Wednesday, September 18th. Visitation will begin at 10:00am, followed by the service at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Big Oak Ranch www.bigoak.org or Shades Mountain Baptist Church www.shades.org.
