age 78, passed away September 6, 2008. He was one of the most distinguished interior decorators in Alabama. His surviving loving family members include his daughter and her family, Fairy and Frank Sutherland, Ashley, Stephen and Adam Sutherland, of Birmingham; Mason J. and Carol Grimes, Jr. and Mason J. III and Chrisavi Grimes, of Birmingham; his sister; Sada Luvina Lightsey; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was born in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. In Birmingham, he worked for Hawkins-Israel Interiors for many years before going into business for himself. In addition to decorating the homes of loyal and adoring clients, he decorated the Alabama Governor's Mansion, the Woodward House at UAB and the University of Alabama Board of Trustees conference room at UAB. He traveled throughout the world to find furnishings and accessories for his clients. He decorated in a classical, artistic style that transcended decades. He was loved by all who knew him, and he will be missed forever by his family and friends. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 7, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a graveside service at 3:30 p.m. at the Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home Memorial Gardens in Hoover. Rev. Lucy Turner will officiate.
