There is no greater loss than the loss of a mother.
Mable Ree Whited, 88, of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, passed away on November 24, 2014. She was born to Lewis Vivian and Maude Pearl Milstead on April 19, 1926.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Leroy Whited. She found her soul mate and partner for life at the age of 19 when she moved from the small southern town of Jackson, Alabama to Birmingham. One Sunday morning while attending church she met Leroy who happened to be in Birmingham while on leave from the Navy. They married July 10, 1948 and were inseparable. They traveled the world together. Mable was the loving and devoted mother of three children and four grandchildren. Mable and Leroy were lifelong residents of Cahaba Heights, where Mable was involved in community activities (little league baseball mom, PTA, church). Proud to serve her community, she was recently elected as an Ambassador for Town Village. She was a generous and compassionate individual whose kindness and humor touched the hearts of those around her.
She is survived by three children, Charles “Chuck” Whited (Jacqueline), Jeannie Whited Davis Harbarger (Terry), Michael “Boo Boo” Whited (Lori), grandchildren: Lane Davis, Jarrod Davis (Hannah), Jennifer Davis, Mia Whited. Her children and grandchildren have remained by her side thru it all.
