Louis Hamer, Jr

Louis P. Hamer, Jr. died December 15, 2017. He was born in Columbus, GA on October 17, 1927, but left after high school to play football at Vanderbilt University. There he graduated with a degree in business. He servied in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1947.

His work career spanned 27 years working for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. After retiring in 1987, he spent many years playing golf with his buddies at Riverchase Country Club. Hardly a day went by that he wasn't on the golf course or sunbathing on his deck.

He was a member of Riverchase Baptist Church.

He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, and the love of his life, Helen Grace. He is survived by his two sons, Tim Hamer of Birmingham and David Hamer of Atlanta. He also is survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 - 9:45, Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home Hwy 150 in Hoover. Interment will be in Park Hill Cemetery in Columbus, Georgia.
