Lloyd Arthur Rafalsky, of Hoover, born May 29, 1942, died peacefully surrounded by family on January 26,2018.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie and Lloyd Rafalsky; brother, Lee Rafalsky; and sisters, Celeste O'Donnell and Diane Hayes. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gail Reid Rafalsky, as well as children, Gregg Rafalsky (Alysia), Natalie Denton (Brett), Shannon Putman (Patrick), and Erinn Osterloh (Brian). He was also blessed to have 11 grandchildren Jennifer, Katelyn, and Lindsey Rafalsky, Catherine, Alex, and Rebecca Denton, David and Caroline Putman, Carter, Addison, and Reid Osterloh.
Lloyd was born in San Antonio, TX, and moved to Birmingham at the age of 5 where he attended Catholic schools. He graduated from John Carrol High School in 1960. He then attended the University of Alabama where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering. Lloyd was an entrepreneur and owned Ironco Mfg in Helena, Al for his entire career until he retired. Lloyd was a founding member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Hoover and was very involved with Ham radios and enjoyed repairing vintage radios for people all over the country. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, particularly dove and duck hunting. He was also a very passionate fan of Alabama football.
The family will receive friends from 3-4 PM, Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. A funeral mass will follow at 4 PM, in the church, Father John Fallon officiating. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (pulmonaryfibrosis.org)
