56, of Hoover, went to be with the Lord on August 17, 2013 after a lengthy illness. Lisa graduated from W.A. Berry High School as a valedictorian in 1974 and belonged to Kappa Gamma Sorority. She lived her early married life in New Orleans, a place that remained dear to her and her husband. She was a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church. Lisa worked for many years at Saunders Leasing and was known for her expertise in tax preparation. Lately she helped to care for her mother. She is preceded in death by her father, James Marion Lowery, and her husband, James R. Brown. She is survived by her mother, Miriam G. Lowery; two daughters, Melissa Hollingsworth and Meredith Brown (Ashley); a son, David R. Brown (Dayton); five grandchildren, Gracie, Halee, Shelby, Landon and Gage; brothers, Randy and Jeff (Betsy) Lowery; and two nieces, Dawn and Andrea. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 from 1 to 2 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2 PM in the funeral home chapel with Chaplain Charlie Nicholson officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
