Lisa Avant

Lisa Murphy Avant, age 62, passed away peacefully in the early hours of August 12th, 2024. She was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, and was a graduate of Berry High School in 1980. She attended Auburn University, and then received her bachelor's degree in accounting from UAB. She was a partner of Stone, Avant, and Daniels LLC for over 30 years before her retirement. She is remembered as someone who was intelligent, welcoming, hard-working, thoughtful, and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone around her. Lisa could frequently be found cheering on her Auburn Tigers, boating on Smith Lake, attending a concert or art festival, sharing a meal with friends, or enjoying a sunset on the beach. While she found great joy through all life had to offer, she loved spending time with the people she loved most. Lisa was a loving daughter, exceptional mother, doting Nana, and a loyal friend to many.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Mary Murphy. She is survived by her daughters, Shelby Cathers (Trey), and Savannah Avant, along with her older sister, Linda Viljamaa (Panu), younger brother, Charlie Murphy (Becky), and younger sister, Amanda Jones (Bill). Friends and family are invited to Bluff Park United Methodist Church on Friday, August 16th for a visitation starting at 1pm, and a service to follow at 3pm, to reminisce and honor the life of Lisa. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation or Bundles of Hope Ministry.
