Linda Ann Sitton, 74, of Indian Springs Village, Alabama, passed away peacefully September 22, 2020, with her husband by her side. She was born February 25, 1946 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Linda graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1964 and received her bachelor’s (1968) and master’s (1971) degrees from the University of Alabama. Linda is survived by her beloved husband of almost 49 years, Dale Abbott Sitton; her son, Todd (Patie) Sitton and grandsons, Jacob, David, and Zack; her daughter, Anna (Bobby) Bardin and grandchildren, Halsie, Vera, Abbott, and Louisa; her sisters, Patricia Patton and Kaye Robb. Her parents, Clifford H. and Mary Louise Armstrong, preceded her in death.
Linda was a member for 40 years of Briarwood Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed many events, Bible studies, and countless relationships. She faithfully served on the Global Missions Team for 29 years and wrote encouraging letters to many missionaries far and wide. Linda worked alongside her husband for 40 years at his accounting firm. She loved spending time with her seven grandchildren, going to the lake, enjoying the annual beach trip, gathering with her supper club friends, praying with ladies from church, ministering to those in her small group, cross-stitching for her family, traveling on car club road trips, going on Camp Jeep adventures, and watching Alabama football games. Above all, Linda loved her Lord Jesus, her family and her friends.
“An excellent wife, who can find. For her worth is far above jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, And he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil All the days of her life. Her children rise up and bless her; Her husband also, and he praises her, saying, Many daughters have done nobly, But you excel them all. Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her the product of her hands, And let her works praise her in the gates.”
Proverbs Chapter 31 These words from scripture suitably capture the essence of Linda, our dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. All these qualities in her life are the result of the outpouring of the grace of God that was continually being worked into her for 46+ years. That grace of God flowed into her and then from her to touch the lives of many. As she would end the daily prayer times with her husband, her closing words were always the same. “May we honor the Lord today in all we do and say.” Her life in Christ was a daily testimony to the power of the grace of God. Dale can truly say that she was worth far more than jewels, his heart always trusted in her, he gained much, and she did him good and not evil all the days of her life.
