Leonard Iii

LAMPKIN III, LEONARD ERIC of Hoover, passed away on June 16, 2011 after a brief illness. Eric was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and lived in a number of overseas and stateside locations while growing up. He graduated from State College Area High School in State College PA, and after service in the US Army, attended Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM), majoring in Graphic Arts. Eric earned the rank of Eagle Scout while in high school, and upon graduation, walked a large portion of the Appalachian Trail prior to enlisting in the Army. He began his computergraphics career at AccuWeather Inc., in State College and subsequently continued his career in Birmingham. Eric is survived by his parents Len and Leita Lampkin, his brother Lee and his beloved dog Riley. He is preceded in death by his Maternal grandparents Jack and Wilma Kinzer of Hoover and by his Paternal grandparents Leonard E. Lampkin, Sr. of Montgomery, AL and Frances Youngerman of Montgomery, AL and Brentwood, TN. He was a funny, loving young man who died too young and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 20, 2011 from 6 until 8 pm at the Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover. Interment in the Alabama National Cemetery will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Birmingham Humane Society in Eric's honor. >
