passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2005, at the age of 87. He was in business for 55 years at the Rocky Ridge Grocery & Shell. Mr. Wooten was a deacon at Lakeside Baptist Church, a Mason and was Rocky Ridge Volunteer Fire Department's first Assistant Fire Chief. During WWII, he worked as a fitter in the Pascagula Shipyard and later worked for Ingal's Iron. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Alberta Bearden Wooten; a son, Leon Wooten, Jr. (Debbie) of Hoover; 2 daughters, Frances W. Vibbart of Huntsville and Barbara W. Powell (Steven) of Vestavia; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and a niece, Martha Brinton of Vestavia. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 19, 2005, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy. 150, Hoover. The family will also receive friends on Tuesday, December 20, 2005, from 1 to 2 p.m at Lakeside Baptist Church with funeral services following at 2 p.m. at the church with Dr. Mike McLemore and Dr. Earl Tew officiating. Interment will be at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. The family requests that donations be made to Lakeside Baptist Church Organ Fund. Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home directing.
