Lennie Sams

Lennie Michael Sams Sr. 83, beloved Father, Son, and Husband was called to his eternal resting place on April 25, 2023. He entered this world on February 11, 1940 in Birmingham, AL and was preceeded in death by his Mother, Margaret Hooper and his Wife Vonnie Sams. He is survived by his sons Lennie Michael Sams, Jr (Pam), and Gregory Sams,  Jeff Sandlin (Jennifer), Lisa Miller (Randy). Grandchildren Jared Sams (Kristi), Justin Sams (Brandi), Allison Brooks, Devon Sams, Lexie Sams, Brandon Miller, Grant Miller, Bella Rae Sandlin and Tilson Sandlin and seven great-grandchildren.

Lennie started his career as a Birmingham Police Officer in 1967 and retired after 40 plus years of service. He was a highly decorated Officer with many Commendations and Achievements. He was a mentor to many throughout his career.

Lennie was best known not only for his Police service but as a devoted Christian Husband, Father and Friend. He often said to his Sons "Always do what is right, even when no one's looking."

Lennie was a member of Westmont Baptist Church and lifetime member of the Faternal Order of Police.

The service for Lennie Micheal Sams Sr. will be held on Friday, at 2:00 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home.

Visitation: Friday, at 1:00 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home.

Burial: Highland Memorial Cemetery, Bessemer Al.
